YPL this weekend

The Young Protectors League meeting this weekend was wiz-nift. Professor Brutka started by showing us a salamander, a fire crab, and a knarl. And then he took us all for a walk in the Forbidden Forest. We didn't go very far in, just along the edge a bit and we had some prefects with us as well as Professor Brutka so it was perfectly safe. He told us to move as quietly as we could so we wouldn't scare things off but mostly we just saw things like rabbits. Also I reckoned I saw a fox once. And we saw signs of magical creatures like tracks in the snow and Professor Brutka showed us unicorn droppings.

It was WAY more interesting than the wand care one (no offense if those professors are reading this).

Well, in fairness to the wand care one, they did rather throw it together last minute. But yes, it was much more interesting to go outside.

Except my warming charm wore off earlier than I expected it to. It took a few minutes to figure out why I was suddenly so cold!

I thought I heard someone once, something really big. But when I looked all I could see was a reddish sort of eye, and then it was gone.

Ooh what do you suppose it was? I can't remember all the things Brutka says live in the forest.

I dunno but it looked positively evil.

Whoever goes wandering in there is just asking to get eaten, I think.

Well, it's not as if anything'd want to eat Patil, anyway.

Oh, there are lots of possibilities, and some of them Professor Brutka didn't even mention.

I don't think it's the time of year for Spinhowsers to come out of their dens, but perhaps some of those larger sets of tracks could have been one of those. They're rather rare in this part of the British Isles, though.

I bet we'd have seen more than rabbits if Bulstrode and Goyle hadn't got in such a row. Anywiz, she was wrong. It was Nott who made all that snow shoot up and dump on her head. Did she really think Goyle could've cast that spell?

Yeah, I thought it was pretty wizard too. I'd like to see a real unicorn someday.
