I spent part of the day with Jason Montague.

One of the things we talked about was the Black Curse. He's seen it cast, and the results. I never have.

It must haunt you, thinking about it. Harry standing in front of you, asking you to cast it. The look on his face when the curse landed. Montague said the person who got hit looked relieved for a second, because they'd expected the killing curse. Then they felt it in their bones and got this look of horror.

Is that how Harry looked?

Montague, is it? Have you told him how his cousin looked when she was murdered on her wedding day? But then I don't suppose he's spared her a thought, or anyone else for that matter.

Know a lot about being haunted, do you?

Not sure it counts as a 'murder' rather than an 'execution,' given that Daphne really was a traitor.

Regarding being haunted -- yeah, I'm something of an expert, actually. As I expect you know.

Here's what I wonder if you dream: something changes, there's a new plan, but it's too late because you've already cast the curse, and Harry dies anyway.

Or do you dream about what happened with Our Lord? Or maybe not, since you weren't there for that part, it would be all conjecture.

Did Montague tell you that there's only one person other than Bellatrix who's ever cast the curse on another human?

That person's me. And no, I'm not bragging.

I have the sense that you think you can shame me or guilt me any more than I've already done to myself, which is rather funny. You're funny, Finnigan.

Your dark arts skills are very impressive. Maybe you can add that spell to your repertoire, and cast it on me, when you see me next.

The next time you find yourself thinking about casting the curse on Harry, you can imagine casting it on me, instead, that should give you a a warm sense of reassurance. Or Ari Baddock. Or Antonin Dolohov.

It's hideously painful almost from the first moment. How well did Harry hide that?
