Who's looking forward to Sunday???

Dean, do you want to walk there together? I want to go to Zonko's first, Honeydukes is brilliant and all but I can always ask Mr Rosier to send me sweets, he's not as likely to send me dungbombs jokes.

I simply can't wait! I wish it were Saturday but I suppose it's just as well we'll have all Saturday to finish our homework because I know we'll not get anything done Sunday, with Hogsmeade and the feast and all.

You already know what I think about going to Honeyduke's first, it's mad. The queue will last forever. May as well go everywhere else first and then shop Honeyduke's while everyone else is waiting.

I'm definitely going to Scrivenshaft's though, my quills are getting all splintery. You can waste your sickles on dungbombs if you like - just don't set them off anywhere near me!

(I cannot believe how difficult it was to pull everyone back to the early establishment of the muggleborn registry, after Carmichael started talking about bogeys! Honestly it was like there was a whole mass of bogey-related spells that he thought would be a smashing joke to play on muggles, and did anyone know if Dementors have bogeys or if Pendleton-Davis had invented any other spells besides the Bat-Bogey or whatever. I'd like to feed him to the Dementors and see if he's so quick to ask them about their bleeding bogeys! Honestly I think that's the BEST part about Hogsmeade: No second- or first-years allowed!)

Anyway - are you meeting Hooper? Again? That's the third time this week, isn't it? You must really be having trouble with Arithmancy.

I suppose that means Thomas will want to revise with Moon and Dunstan and me. As long as he's willing to work on Transfiguration. Professor Carrow's been on about getting the fur perfect on our pot-bellied pigs.

I'm glad you remembered to make this private! For a minute I thought you'd said all that flat out, and while who cares about Weasley or Longbottom seeing it, Thomas can be so prickly. And nevermind Carrow!! He'd probably Cruciate you if you criticised him like that where he might see it.

But as for what's going on...well, I mean, I think having the Azkaban guards nearby is sort of unsettling everyone, isn't it? But Professor Carrow especially. He was actually held in Azkaban last year, for a while, anyways. Bobolis says she thinks Mr Malfoy arranged that especially because he doesn't care for Professor Carrow, but if he doesn't, he's hardly alone, is he? And anyway I know Mr Malfoy's powerful but I don't think the Minister would put someone in Azkaban just because Mr Malfoy told him to do.

So I guess he's having trouble - Professor Carrow, I mean - and he's more fractious than usual. In Ravenclaw we just hop to whatever he says to do, without giving him any reason to fuss. But sometimes I think he actually wants the excuse to be vicious, you know? So once in a while I'll Confound Brocklehurst or Capper when Professor Carrow's back's turned, so they'll give a wrong answer and let him fume a bit and then he's all right for the rest of the lesson.

Really it's all a question of knowing how to handle people, I think, don't you?

Oh? Even after all the extra help he gets from Perks??

Shocking.

I don't know why but I've asked Parvati why she and you and Lav have to be in Gryffindor. It's such trouble sometimes, really, and it'd be so much easier if you were here in Ravenclaw or even in Hufflepuff! Why do we even need Gryffindor at all, d'you reckon? I mean, just because he was a founder? But he was wrong about so much!

Hey - maybe we ought to talk about the Founders some night soon, for History Club. What do you think?

I suppose, but so many of you lot in Gryffindor are not just brave, you're thick-headed as well. And it seems like everyone lumps the good Gryffindors in with the bad ones, so sometimes it seems like it would just be a whole lot less trouble if one could say you weren't Gryffindors at all. But I suppose there are Ravenclaws who are slimy gits, too, like Stretton and I guess Sandoval, now, too.

What if you were to talk about Godric Gryffindor and I'll take Rowena Ravenclaw. And I'll ask Parkinson if she wants to talk about Salazar Slytherin and maybe MacMillan or Bones will cover Helga Hufflepuff.

Oh, and let me know if you decide to meet Hooper tomorrow instead. It's so much easier to have Thomas in the group if you're there as well.

I'll be staying around the castle, actually. Harry and I are probably going to spend some time with RaProfessor Lestrange.

A trip to Hogsmeade is simply not complete without a stop at Zonko's.

I'm looking forward to it.

I expect I'll be leaving at a little different time, but perhaps I'll see you and Dean around the shops or something.

Yes, this means I have no expectation that you want to spend any time with me. Carry on without me. We'll all be happier, honest.

Seamus doesn't come out and say anything straight to my face, no. But I'm pretty sure he's moaning about me behind my back, to Padma Patil and Draco Malfoy and Lavender Brown and that lot.

Dean and Ron and me tried to talk some stuff out a few days ago. It didn't go so well. Ron had about as much steam coming out of his ears as if he'd taken Pepperup Potion.

Now it's sort of like there's a line drawn down the middle of the room, and Ron and me are on one side and Dean and Seamus are on the other. We all sort of pretend to ignore each other.

Too right it didn't go well!

But, y'know, he can't say we didn't listen. And now at least we know what he's about.

Y'know, it's a really odd thing. I don't quite see the point of shaking off my friends.

I certainly am!

Though I feel bad for Eloise, not being able to come because her guardians never sent in the permission. We're going to pick up loads of things for her though.
